In Barnet, it costs approximately £145 to send a tonne of waste to landfill, including collection costs.
2) What percentage of waste is recyclable in Barnet? That is, how much can be theoretically recycled?
In Barnet, 72% of total household waste could be recycled from home using the blue box, black box and green bin. Material we collect for recycling from homes makes up 72% of total household waste, and therefore needn’t go to landfill.
Food waste makes up the vast majority of the material which could be recycled, but is currently being put into the refuse by residents.
3) How much of recyclable waste is actually recycled in the NLWA Area / London Borough of Barnet?
30% in the NLWA in 09/10, and 33.1% in Barnet in 09/10.
