Lynne Featherstone MP issues call to arms at Haringey Area Committee

Lynne Featherstone MP could not attend the Muswell Hill, Alexandra, Fortis Green and Highgate Area Committee, on 16 June. Her message was read out at the start of the meeting:

"So very sorry, not to be able to come tonight, as I am away on my 'tackling violence against women and girls' brief.

"But fighting the Pinkham Way proposals is vital to our area, and to local people. Having been out on the doorstep, it is quite clear that there are very genuine and valid concerns - about traffic, pollution, noise, danger to the local wildlife habitat and nature reserve, amongst others.

"Not only are the plans oversized and 'over here' - but I have no confidence that, despite statements from NWLA that there are "no plans for an incinerator", that in X years' time, that will be exactly the road this goes down.

"All three local MPs, myself for Hornsey & Wood Green, Theresa Villiers for Chipping Barnet, and David Burrowes for Enfield Southgate, are united in opposing these proposals."
